Genetics in Your Life

Q Everyone has had some part of his or her life changed by genetics, whether for the good or the bad. Think of a situation in your own life (please make sure it is appropriate for public posting), and tell the group about it. What was the condition, and how did it affect your life? Please remember, you can have GOOD genetic effects too! For example - and this one is mine, so you can't use it - I have a congenital problem with my spine, which has caused one of the bones to not fuse properly. Eventually I had to have surgery to fuse three vertebrae, and this has had many effects on my life, both for the good and the bad. Please remember that this is a discussion, and part of your grade is for participation. In order to receive full credit you need to post at least two replies to others' responses, and also please be sure to remember respect for all members of the class.

One of the way that genetics has effected my life is my allergies. Growing up I was allergic to nothing, literally NOTHING. I thought I was superhuman or something, that I could literally consume anything I wanted to and never get sick. Around the age of 18, I was at school one unsuspecting windy day and suddenly at lunch time, I began to have an allergic reaction. Unknowing of what an allergic reaction even was I didn't understand what was happening at first so I didn't do anything to fix it but it just got worse
